I am Lori, a professional singer and vocal pedagogue with notable performance and teaching experience in a variety of musical genres. I hold a doctorate in voice performance and am currently teaching in reputable institutions in the Washington, D.C. area. I work with students ranging from teenagers to adults focusing on classical, musical theatre, and contemporary styles. Meanwhile, I perform in a diverse spectrum of styles and genres, mainly classical, musical theatre, and jazz, both in the United States and abroad. I can help you with: - Exploring your voice - Establishing a healthy vocal technique - Musicality (i.e. musical and stylistic work) - Interpretation & dramatic expression - Lyric diction (Italian, German, French, Spanish, English) - Audition preparation - Performance anxiety & self-confidence A student’s learning experience should be fun, exciting and inspiring, as well as stimulating and challenging. I firmly believe that the teacher’s constructive feedback accelerates the learning process. Through creating a positive, energetic atmosphere, and establishing a safe, friendly environment, I always aim to encourage students to ask questions, share their thoughts and feelings in their learning process, and to exercise their creativity. These explorations are as crucial for the discovery of one’s voice as they are for the development of self-confidence and artistic expression. I look forward to working with you!

Klodelė
Piano and vocal - singing teacher. All levels are acceptable! We will achieve any level you want
I finished a music school and my speciality was the piano. I did an expanded course that lasted 13 years, 3-4 times per week and, of course, all included : sight reading, notation, music theory etc. Since 7 years old, I went to several national piano competitions all around the world every year until I was accepted at the British and Irish Modern Music Institute. There, I’m studying vocals and music industry in general. I won a lot of first, second, grand prices as marks of my achievements. I’m from Lithuania, I was working there as a private piano and singing teacher for a couple of years. During a gap year I took, I was teaching as well. My mum is a piano teacher, I was in this sphere for all my life. As I was teaching, I had international students from Germany and Italy. It makes me experienced in English language teaching. If you have any questions, I’m ready to answer and to teach you how to play from any level to any level you want. Klodele

Ana
Violin/Viola; Baroque Violin/Viola; Singing; Piano
.......Ana is also passionate about teaching. She was the baroque strings coach at the inaugural edition of the Novi Sad Baroque Academy, where she presented a mixture of teaching methods incorporated with historically informed performance practice. In October of 2021 she joined the Herne Hill Music Studio in London as one of their tutors. She enjoys teaching students of all levels and ages, and is always willing to exchange knowledge, seeking new exciting and productive ways of learning. She has explored educational psychology, as well as Feldenkrais and Alexander Technique, visualization and different teaching schools. Having studied 2nd-study piano at her music college as a compulsory requirement, she is able to guide children to take ABRSM graded piano music exams too. The students’ happiness, acquisition of new knowledge and musical improvement are the most important things to her. Diana Cummings, the LRAM programme supervisor at the Royal Academy of Music in London, said: “Ana gave a detailed and very well-presented analysis of the baroque viola, the comparison with modern viola and how it could be taught. You have a very analytical mind and think through all the elements of teaching effectively and constructively. You are a most promising teacher, and you are exploring your potential with great enthusiasm. Well done.” ...

Rayan
Piano for all levels - develop confidence and inner singing
I offer piano lessons for all levels. 5 years of teaching experience in conservatories, music schools and in business. I have a very good contact with children. I am demanding but gentle and very patient. I believe that one learns by listening, I am present to allow this listening to be at the center of the course and thus accompany the student on the path of music. I adapt to the need, the desire and the receptivity of each one. The well-being of the student is essential for progress in confidence and joy. The development of listening to the inner song is at the heart of my teaching. For beginners: songs, games, improvisation, creation. The links with song and rhythm are very important to have a healthy foundation. The musical notions are approached gradually by experience then by recognition. Reading and writing are brought about by creation and musical composition. For the more experienced, polyphony and difficult passages can be approached with different tools, by awareness of harmony and melodic modes and polyrhythm. Sometimes it is enough to be aware of simplicity to overcome difficult passages. I push to go further in the quality of the interpretation with simple means to better understand the music and thus allow more expressiveness and freedom. I also offer improvisation, harmony, lessons in musical ensembles, especially vocal polyphony for children, and lessons for specific needs, for example just intonation for singers or other instruments.

Jack
Voice Teaching (Classical and Musical Theatre) All levels
I am a professional opera singer, currently studying a Master's at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Having performed numerous operas, oratorios and song recitals, I have a in depth and far reaching knowledge of the classical vocal repertoire and a good command of the musical theatre repertoire. Whether you are using it professionally or for fun, I am a strong believer that establishing excellent technique is essential to developing a voice. I work from the premise that no two voices are the same and I tailor lessons to suit my students. We will work on technique, repertoire, interpretation and, where appropriate, language skills. Together, we can work on building a healthy voice and compiling a book of repertoire to help you prepare for exams or recitals. The aim of a lesson is to achieve vocal freedom, which will allow the student to approach repertoire healthily and confidently without fear of the voice giving out. Whatever age, skill level or intention for using the voice, this will ultimately make singing more enjoyable! I have experience coaching choirs and working with young people, particularly with Cambiata North West. I have given masterclasses and singing days, most recently at Saffron Walden County High School. If you would like to organise a lesson, please do not hesitate to contact me via the details on the 'Contact' tab. During the COVID - 19 lock down and social distancing period, I will be teaching remotely via Skype and Zoom. As well as singing tuition, I am also happy to tutor music theory and academic music programmes up to and including A-Level Music. For young people, the aspects of performance and study go hand in hand and I believe it is important to offer support in all aspects of music!

Teaching Music and Basic Music Theory for children
Music is a valuable skill that aids learning in other fields too. I would teach basic music theory, and children's music, introducing basic music concepts. I have also attended a music conservatoire from Sept 2016- Aug 2021, playing the cello, and so can teach this for grades 1-3.
