Alongside my tutoring work, I am a professional playwright and theatre critic. I have studied theatre at the University of York, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and I am a member of the Soho Theatre Writers Group. My plays have been staged at the Edinburgh Fringe, York Theatre Royal and across Fringe venues in London. With my A/AS-Level Drama support classes, we will examine and explore the history behind a number of the key texts on the specifications for OCR, Pearson and EDUQAS: Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen Accidental Death of an Anarchist by Dario Fo Saved by Edward Bond In classes, we will look at the context in which these plays were written, the cultural impact they had and how to use this in essays to demonstrate your broader knowledge of the set texts. Aside from the plays themselves, it is important to understand the wider world of theatre. We will look at the plays of Samuel Beckett, Jean Genet and Theatre of the Absurd for Dario Fo. The history of Theatre censorship and the Royal Court Theatre is crucial to understanding Edward Bond's Saved. This class will give you the opportunity to explore these complex texts with a practising playwright, and the expanded knowledge of these plays will give you that edge when it comes to the exam.

I am a music, singing and drama teacher, based in London, with a BMus (Hons) from the Royal Northern College of Music. I have 12 years of teaching experience in 1-1 and group settings for ages 4 to 18, with a number of my students gaining West End success. We will cover anything from finding a monologue to what to wear to your audition day- anything and everything you want to know and work on for a Drama School audition. If working on your monologue is something you are looking for, we will action it, discuss motives and through lines, pull it apart (put it back together again...) play around with it, and ultimately have fun. There are many considerations for how one performs - from comprehensive theory and how it manifests to the physical connection between the body and mind. In our lessons we will take an individualised approach; some actors struggle with confidence, others with emotional connections, most with sincere relaxation. For the more cerebral actors, understanding the theory behind the motive helps internalise its necessity. Simplicity is a great form, but only when assumed knowingly. As for myself, I have 11 years' experience in the field - 7 professionally - spanning theatre, commercials, musical theatre, and dance. I've performed in numerous theatres across the UK (as well as Cyprus) and have been featured in a number of international commercials.

Past students include Oliva Coleman, Jeremy Irons and Daniel Day-Lewis. Since graduating I have worked with Full House Theatre; guest-starred on an episode of BBC1's Doctors; played Toby Belch and Sebastian in a production of Twelfth Night with the Orange Tree Theatre, and played Bob Cratchit in A Christmas Carol with Half Cut Theatre. Most recently I've been back at the Orange Tree playing Bottom in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
