Early Literacy is fundamental for preparing students for primary school and beyond -- creating developmentally appropriate, structured, and fun lesson plans to support literacy can have an outsize impact in instilling a joy of learning and a sense of confidence in early readers. With a background in English Literature and teaching, I specialize in early learners and students for whom reading may feel intimidating. I am a tutor with 7+ years of experience teaching at a variety of levels from primary school to GCSE level. I teach English Language, English Literature, ESOL (English for speakers of other languages), Maths, and Creative Writing. At the beginning of every lesson I also do short icebreaker activities and challenges with my students, using a points reward system to keep them engaged. Previous students have gone on to become the top of their class and receive recognition at school for both English and Maths. Lessons start at 1 hour in length, with longer lessons available if required. Lessons are structured according to the needs of the student; this can be working alongside their class syllabus to support them with progress at school, tackling an area or subject they are specifically struggling with, or helping them prepare for national exams such as GCSEs. I provide feedback after every lesson and detailed progress reports every six months for each student. I primarily offer online lessons as I have found this works well for me and my students, but in some cases I do teach face-to-face depending on location and availability within London. As it is so crucial for development, this subject is compulsory for students up to the age of 16, therefore it is beneficial that your child is consistently up-to-date on their curriculum.
