May 2026: In these neuro-divergent times, the binary division of "one language or two" in bilinguals is perhaps due some contestation, which students are capable of providing. I have always found bilingual production models (and the ubiquitous Powerpoint slide) that university teachers provide a hindrance because of their lack of explicitness and discussion - they are just not relatable as presented nor do they provide much information or examples for monolingual students. Code-switching, a by-product of bilingualism, is now a term that is even found in minority-ethnic neighbourhood grafitti ("can white people code-switch" a found example). Please note that this is a linguistic term, used for switching between two languages, and not between local or social varieties of English. My personal position is that there is no such thing as bilingualism: there is always a language that suffers attrition, and one language that prevails, mostly because of its prestigious standing over the other language. On the other hand, a child exposed to more than one language cannot be truly monolingual. For this course (very popular at universities around Europe both at undergraduate and postgraduate level) we shall go through the terms used to discuss bilingualism, in detail, and then discuss, with the help of published books and articles, who can be considered bilingual (or are we all, one other language lying dormant?). Can bilingualism be defined by the speaker, instead of the "community"? Can it be imposed by the State? Does a bilingual brain function in the same manner as a monolingual brain? These are research questions that emerge as dissertation or thesis topics both at undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

-Acting coaching, audition prep, drama school audition, and self-tapes.- My method comes from my own professional experience working in London theatres. I believe heavily in preparation. Doing the work! Then letting go and being free on stage opening yourself to act spontaneously. I direct and teach with the National Youth Theatre of GB and other theatre companies across London. In my three years of coaching my students have gained places at RADA, LAMDA, Drama Studio London, East 15 and NYT. I can help with the interview stage and with selecting material. Once we have that we will slowly dissect the piece and the world of the play to truly understand the character's wants/needs/obstacles/actions. I have been tutoring children for the past 3 years and have had experiences within different curricula. I offer help with homework, identify areas in need of improvement, and support children in their journeys. My approach is learner- centered and my priority is to get the children involved and interested, and find ways of presenting the topic they find difficult in an interactive way, and link it to their personal experience and interests. (For example, improving reading comprehension using topics and media they enjoy). Recommended tutoring duration by age (but varies from child to child): 4-6y.o. - 30 mins (don't accept online) 6-7 y.o. - 45 mins 8-11 - 45 mins to max. 60 mins Children with ADHD, dyslexia and other SEND: 30 mins or 45mins with a 5-10 minute break in between

I'm currently the touring drummer for London Calling UK, The Meatloaf Story, and Emma Stevens, and have partaken in festivals and shows around the UK and Europe. I specialise in tutoring primary school English students, assisting in creative writing, reading comprehensions and all aspects of exam preparation. I am a Royal Academy fine art graduate and have taught for many years, teaching all ages and abilities. These classes are for everyone, whether its for pre-school children experimenting making masks, puppets or paintings, student's needing support with their portfolios and sketch books or those who are complete beginners and want to learn a new skill. These lessons will be adapted to support each students particular need.
