Private tutoring at home from elementary school (CP) to middle school (3e) in Rouen – 23 years of teaching experience

Private tutoring at home from elementary school (CP) to middle school (3e) in Rouen – 23 years of teaching experience

Does your child need to progress, regain confidence, or benefit from personalized support to achieve greater success? I offer personalized home-based academic support for students from CP to 3e, with regular monitoring adapted to the level, pace and needs of each child. My goal is not simply to help your child finish their homework, but to teach them an effective working method, to help them understand their obstacles and to enable them to gradually become independent. Personalized support Each student has their own strengths, difficulties, and way of learning. The sessions are tailored to your child's needs and may include: * homework help * the upgrade * understanding of the courses * the methodology and organization of work * memorization techniques * preparing for the tests * regaining confidence in learning. The goal is to establish good work habits and enable the student to make lasting progress. Solid experience in teaching I have been teaching for over 20 years to children, teenagers and adults, including 12 years specifically dedicated to academic support. Over the years, I have supported students with very diverse profiles: students needing to regain confidence, students wishing to improve their results, or students seeking better organization in their work. An International Chess Master since 2006, I have guided many young people in their progress. This experience has allowed me to develop a teaching method based on listening, patience, and adapting to each student. My journey in a few figures * 23 years of teaching experience * 12 years of experience in academic support * International Chess Master since 2006 * nearly 18,000 hours of teaching * Hundreds of children and teenagers supported in their progress. Why choose home tutoring? Individual lessons at home offer fully personalized support: * Your child receives undivided attention during the session * His needs are identified more quickly * The working methods and exercises are adapted to his level and objectives * Parents can follow its development more closely. Before the first lesson, I speak with the parents to understand the student's needs and to define priority objectives together. My goal: to support your child over the long term so that they progress, regain confidence in their abilities and develop an effective working method to succeed more calmly.

Experienced math tutor with University Master. Exam training and tutoring / guidance - University, HBO, VWO, HAVO, VMBO

Experienced math tutor with University Master. Exam training and tutoring / guidance - University, HBO, VWO, HAVO, VMBO

If you are struggling with a specific subject, we can look together at what you are good at and what we can best focus on during the sessions. A few subjects that I have coached students in in the past are: mathematics, business economics, economics, arithmetic, accounting/accountancy, cost accounting, managerial accounting, financial accounting, corporate finance, risk management and investments. I give tips on which information is most important, how you can best prepare for the subject, and how you can best read test questions. This method has proven to be very effective! During my sessions I coach almost everyone! From pupils at the vmbo to (almost) graduates at the university, in all financial-economic subjects. Because of this I have developed a coaching structure that is effective, efficient, and fun. During exam training I work with old exams with a focus on the latest developments in the field. In this way I ensure that students get a good grip on the exam material and enter the exams with confidence. During the training I teach the students how an exam is structured so that they feel familiar with the final exam. Tutoring or homework support are designed in consultation. Some pupils or students benefit from doing assignments together, while others need more explanation of the theory.

Experienced engineering teacher (middle and high school levels), personalized support - Comprehensive skills assessment

Experienced engineering teacher (middle and high school levels), personalized support - Comprehensive skills assessment

"We need to go back to basics." Okay. But which ones? When a student gets stuck on functions, the difficulty may stem from the chapter itself... or from a calculation rule they never truly understand. My work begins by identifying what's preventing them from progressing. We are working on his lessons, exercises and tests to prepare for upcoming deadlines, while also reviewing the concepts he is missing. CONCRETE FOLLOW-UP WITH CONSTELLATION I developed Constellation, my tool for tracking math skills. I use it to keep a precise view of the concepts acquired, those to consolidate, and the work done from one session to the next. For example: if a student understands the method of an equation but makes a mistake with fractions, we target this difficulty, then we return to the equation to check that he can proceed on his own. The tool helps me choose the exercises and explain to you what we are working on, why we are working on it, and what progress is being made. DURING CLASSES • We are reviewing the points in the course that remain unclear. • The student searches, explains their approach and learns to check their answers. • We work on exercises tailored to his difficulties and objectives. • We prepare for tests and exams: reasoning, writing, method and time management. I support students from 6th grade to 12th grade: occasional difficulties, accumulated gaps in knowledge, preparation for the brevet or baccalaureate, or the desire to go further. Lessons take place via video conference or at home around Douvaine. They can be given in French or English. We start with a recent exercise or test to get to know each other, identify initial difficulties, and define priorities. To contact me, simply indicate your child's class, what problem they are currently experiencing, and your availability. You do not need to know the cause of their difficulties yourself.

Former teacher. Primary/Secondary school tutoring.

Former teacher. Primary/Secondary school tutoring.

I’m a former primary school teacher with over eight years of private tutoring experience in Amsterdam. I’ve worked with students attending Dutch, British and other international schools, including the British School and ISA, and am familiar with the different curricula and expectations. I specialise in working with students with ADHD and other learning differences. Alongside teaching the subject, I help with the things that can make schoolwork difficult: getting started, staying focused, organising assignments and knowing what to do when you feel stuck. This might mean breaking work into smaller steps, trying a different explanation or taking a break before coming back to a problem. I take the time to get to know each student and understand what works for them. I teach maths, English and other primary school subjects, with particular experience supporting children who are learning in English as a second language. Students come to me for different reasons: some need help keeping up at school, some have lost confidence, and others enjoy a subject and want more of a challenge. I want them to feel comfortable asking questions and saying when something doesn’t make sense. Having moved between countries myself, I also understand how much students have to adjust when they enter a new school system. I can help them work through unfamiliar material and expectations while they settle in. Before moving to Amsterdam, I taught all subjects in Grades 1 and 2 at a private international school in Dubai. I’m American and a native English speaker, with a BA in Sociology from UCLA and an MSc in Medical Anthropology and Sociology from the University of Amsterdam. I also work as a writer and editor, and support secondary school and university students with essay planning, academic writing and research. Lessons are available in Amsterdam or online. Feel free to send me a message with your child’s age, school and what you’re looking for help with! An additional travel fee applies to lessons at your home if the journey is more than 20 minutes by bike.

Maths & Physics (Primary, Secondary, Higher Education) by a Civil Engineer (UCL)

Maths & Physics (Primary, Secondary, Higher Education) by a Civil Engineer (UCL)

"Does your child spend hours struggling with a physics problem? Has math become a source of stress at home? This is often a sign that the subject is being taught in too abstract a way. As a Civil Engineer, I transform complex theories into concrete and logical concepts." Hello, Having graduated in electromechanical engineering from UCL, I offer private lessons and academic support in Mathematics and Physics for primary, secondary and higher education students (Bachelor's 1 to Bachelor's 3). My approach is simple: no formulas memorized without understanding, we start with concrete examples! As an engineer, I approach science through logic, practical examples, and problem-solving. This is the key to sparking learning in students and overcoming their mental blocks. 🎯 My areas of expertise: Primary & Lower Secondary: Regular monitoring, working methods, intensive preparation for CEB and CE1D. Upper secondary education: Algebra, geometry, trigonometry, general physics, preparation for the CESS and entrance exams. Higher education (Bachelor's 1 to Bachelor's 3) & Competitive exams: Analysis, general physics, electromagnetism. Ideal support for preparing for January/June exams (block exams) or entrance exams for engineering/medicine. 🛠️ My teaching method: Diagnosis: Identify fundamental gaps or methodological problems from the first hour. Simplification: Re-explain the theory from a different, more visual and concrete angle. Autonomy: Intensive practice through progressive exercises to automate reflexes and restore the student's confidence. 📍 Practical information: Languages: Courses can be given in French, English or Dutch. Geographic area: Home visits in Waterloo, Braine-l'Alleud, Lasne, Plancenoit and surrounding areas. Accustomed to the level of requirements of the schools in the region (Cardijn, Vallée Bailly, Berlaymont, Institut Saint-Joseph, etc.) as well as the expectations of university faculties (UCLouvain, ULB, Umons...). Feel free to contact me to discuss your child's needs and create an effective schedule!

“ Tom had given economie lessen to both my children that are on the middle bar school. My kids were lost, going very bad specially in economie and with limited understanding at school lessons. I decided to hire Tom, was difficult to find someone that give lessons to teenagers and that was knowledged. Tom has been with us the last months, my kids began understanding better, getting the point and scoring better at school. Sometimes I could overhear the online lessons or even 'live lessons' when he came home. Tom is great, with lots of patience, straight to the point, know how to explain, never lose the temper. We are very happy and will certainly recommend him. He is very professional and can motivate the students in a very good way. Thanks Tom! ”

“ We had our first session a few days ago, with Alessandra tutoring my 8 year old son and 5 year old daughter, developing their reading and writing in English and their mathematics. Alessandra's previous experience as a teacher certainly shines through, as she definitely seems to know how children of this age learn. She provided original and exciting activities for the kids and they found it great fun; they are looking forward to seeing her again next week. Alessandra was professional to work with and I can definitely recommend her. ”

“ In terms of vocabulary, I had a good foundation through Duolingo. Decided to take one-to-one lessons with Palina to also improve grammar and listening and speaking skills. Now at lesson 4 and very happy with my choice :). After saying hello (in Russian of course) the lesson starts with a listening or speaking practice, followed by a short repetition of the grammar rule of the previous lesson and the introduction of a new grammar rule. Keep in mind, however, that the structure of lessons may depend on your level of Russian. ”
