A professionally trained theatre director, I have made a career out of working with text by bringing it to life. As a tutor, I look to find ways of helping students do just this. In my classes I work with students to unlock the texts they are studying - honing their analytical skills, providing them with a deeper thematic understanding in order to achieve their academic objectives. English Literature, though, is both a subject for school and for life and I believe the best way of achieving top grades is to cultivate a genuine excitement about literature - from Shakespeare to Steinbeck. My classes, therefore, though rigorous, will never be boring and I hope that by the end my students will share Haruki Murakami's opinion that “the most important thing we ever learn at school is the fact that the most important things can’t be learned at school”.

My name is May and I'm a singer/songwriter/producer. I have 18 years of vocal technique experience working with some International vocal coaches such as Nick Cooper (Beyonce, Sam Smith, Nicki Minaj). As a singer, I've been releasing music for the past 9 years, I started my career in musicals but soon realized that my true interest resided in a solo career as a Pop/Alternative artist. I've been teaching family and friends since my young age so went on to teaching anyone. I've worked with people who damaged my vocal cords as a child and so have learned the risks and am very careful and gentle in that matter especially with younger aspiring singers. I teach the importance of breathing correctly, using your voice in a healthy way, warming up the voice to avoid any damage and techniques on singing songs in a more interesting way. We sing a specific song thing by the student at the beginning and at the end to compare the progress made during the lesson. Singing is good for the soul and I believe that everyone and anyone can learn to sing! I’ve been a professional classical singer for 15 years now, touring all over the world with UK-based ensembles and singing in some of the most incredible concert halls. I studied music at Oxford University and did a postgraduate in singing at Trinity Laban and am passionate about music education. I’ve taught all ages from 3-year-olds to 70-year-olds in workshops and on a one-to-one basis. I offer lessons focussing on vocal health and confidence, improving range, learning new repertoire or improving current repertoire, working towards exams and performances, choral singing techniques, or just singing for simple enjoyment! My approach is holistic as I believe the voice is an extension of our bodies and personalities. I also teach recorder, piano, and general musicianship to all ages.

As a private tutor in French and Latin with over 400 hours of experience both in person and online I have raised students' achievements by two grades with practice in pronunciation and meticulous attention to the learning of grammar. Hi my name is Rich. I offer one 2 one acting sessions in Peckham Rye to help all levels and abilities improve confidence in their performance. I am a British actor and performer with over 20 years of experience working in TV, Film and Theatre. My TV credits include over 200 episodes of playing Dr Caleb Knight on BBC's hit series Casualty 2014-2020. 24 episodes of hit teen soap Hollyoaks playing Father Francis. For film i had lead roles in the box office smash British film STREETDANCE 3D and the Film Festival hit EVE. In 30min or 1 hour sessions we will work through the text(if there is a scene to prep or i can provide interesting material) and discuss ways of applying the best techniques to unlock your performances full potential. Whether it be for a big audition or just a bit of fun i will offer a calm and productive environment for you to find creativity and flourish. I have trained extensively in the Meisner technique as well as a more Method approach at Guildhall Music & Drama School. There really isn't a set technique i teach from, rather a balance of what works for the individual student as we are human and all work in completely different ways. I teach painting, drawing, installation art , art research and art experiments. I believe that the art- practice is an incredible method to understand ourselves and the situations that surround us. Student B This lovely year 11 boy was a grade 5 student in maths, after working really hard with him, doing exam papers every week, giving him challenged questions he did extremely well and achieved a grade 7 maths. His grade then allowed him to confirm his place in a Grammar school in Kent. I am also trained to teach/tutor mathematics using mathematics mastery. This is a program designed to help students conceptualise and understand the reason why we are studying mathematics. This program follows a CPA approach (Concrete Pictorial Abstract). For every topic that I teach/tutor, I always bring maths alive by taking real life examples. These help students understand the concept. For instance: Calculating with negative numbers is a topic that most student find difficult in maths. even those that get it might not be able to explain the reason why -4 + 8 = 4. when teaching this topic, I like using oyster cards, bank account or the weather as an example. `if I have -4 pound in my oyster card what does it mean? ` Now I top up 8 pounds what will my new balance be? This was just an example of how to link mathematics to real life situations. I can teach/tutor students with different abilities this include higher, middle and lower set.
