Im Yong Zhi, a 2nd-year Electrical and Electronic Engineering student at Imperial College London, with a strong academic background in mathematics and physical sciences. I achieved 4 A* grades at A-Level, including a Top In The World award for Mathematics, and I was awarded the Dean’s List in my first year at Imperial (top 5% of the cohort). I have over a year of online tutoring experience, specialising in GCSE and A-Level Maths and Physics, as well as admissions-focused preparation for highly competitive exams such as ESAT and Oxbridge/Imperial entrance pathways. I was also a teaching assistant for first year students for my course. I was a lab assistant, teaching students safe and pragmatic lab practices so that they could learn how to use equipment and build circuits effectively. My approach focuses on building deep conceptual understanding alongside strong exam technique. I prioritise helping students become confident problem-solvers rather than relying on memorisation, and I tailor each session to the student’s specific weaknesses and exam goals. For exam preparation, I emphasise: Breaking down difficult topics into clear, structured steps Developing efficient problem-solving strategies under time pressure Targeted practice using past-paper style questions Improving accuracy, speed, and exam confidence Whether the goal is securing top GCSE/A-Level grades or preparing for competitive university admissions, I aim to provide structured, high-impact support that is focused on measurable improvement.

Trusted teacher: Tutoring for International Baccalaureate (IB) Maths AA HL/SL, Chemistry HL/SL, Physics HL/SL and for International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) International Mathematics (0607), Additional Mathematics (0606), Physics (0625) Chemistry (0620). I aim to make sure students understand material intuitively first before delving into complicated questions and foster a friendly and patient learning environment. Instead of relying on memorising formulas, I teach students how to derive the formulas themselves, build upon their previous knowledge and use them to solve complex questions in a simple way, building their confidence in the process. To facilitate this, I use metaphors and every-day things to construct stories that help students remember concepts and relationships between them. My lessons are tailored to each student's needs, preferences and learning style so I am able to accommodate specific requests. I can help students work on improving both overall understanding of the subject as well as detailed and thorough understanding of specific topics/sub-topics. As someone who sat these exams myself, I know what the most common mistakes in each topic are, the best exam techniques and have lots of tips, tricks and resources I can share! I offer flexible scheduling, with availability during the day, early mornings, and late evenings for lessons online or in-person lessons near South Kensington. Please message me before booking so we can find a time that works for both of us! If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact me :)

Alberto - Battersea£36
Trusted teacher: I am a passionate History, Sociology and Philosophy teacher (both ancient and modern). Fluent in Italian, Spanish and English I have taught History and Sociology in Madrid, Barcelona, North Italy and London. I can also teach Politics. Outside of the classroom, I have written and directed school plays, organized the school journals and the olympic games of philosophy. My students are of differing ages and stages of proficiency, so I have plenty of experience teaching at all levels. I consider myself a friendly and patient teacher, concerned above all else with the all round development of my students' capacity for comprehensive thought. I have a strong belief in the unification of knowledge and am always striving to incorporate seemingly disparate branches of learning into a broader horizon in order to provide my students with a sufficiently complete picture. Availability The length and frequency of sessions can be determined by the student's requirements and availability. The first lesson For any given first session I like to get to know the student, find out where they're at in their course of study, and see what their current working methods are like. Usually, talking about the current piece of homework, the next upcoming exam, or due assignment is a great way to gauge their requirements, assess where my help is most needed, and thus collaboratively devise a joint programme of work. My teaching method
I bring a broad-based interdisciplinary knowledge to a range of subjects. This allows the opportunity to consider new ideas and to place different perspectives in conversation with each other, which is an instrumental skill for improving academic writing. A lesson with me will be interactive and lucid. I am adaptable as all students are different, so I will constantly monitor and remain attentive to our learning objectives.

My teaching methods vary, but as a rule I start with an in depth account of the subject, taking care to ground it contextually, and then proceed to a discussion of the main points. Whether the lessons take more of a dialogical form or the more typical lecture type format depends on the needs and preferences of the student. The lessons will be focused on studying techniques, written exercises with supervision and recalling techniques. We will work not just to close any gaps but also help the student in learning how to optimize private study. For students who need to get up to speed with content, I can offer sessions where I present you with ideas and new ways of understanding the topic. I approach each topic according to the immediate and long-range needs of the student, whether they require help in comprehending their topic, in preparing for exams, or in planning, executing, and proofing written work. Depending on the desire and temperament of the student, I can gear my lessons either towards cramming and exam survival or towards the nurturing of lifelong learning. My general policy is also to be flexible with what the student needs of me. For example, my payment is for the hour, however I am happy to look over work and send comments. My fee is not just one hour as I work with the student in all aspects of their learning via e-mails outside the lessons. Pushing forward If you're enthralled by your subject and wish to pursue it further, beyond the bounds of learning outcomes and assessment, then I can cultivate that passion in you. If you want to improve your critical or creative writing, I can help you articulate your vision and present it according to high standards; along the way I will instill good practices that will help you in any such task.

Trusted teacher: Hi everyone! My name is Inés, I am 22 years old girl form Spain. I have studied a Degree in Mathematics in my country where I had the opportunity to specialise myself in Pure Mathematics, more concretely in Algebraic Geometry which is the field of my thesis. During those years apart from researching and studying hard to get outstanding marks I worked as tutor specially with undergraduate mathematics, physics and engineering students as well as last year of high school students focused on passing “PAU” the Spanish exam to access to university. I have worked with a really wide range of students, boys and girls who just wanted to get the best grades, others with no interest to do anything and of course with lot of students who hated maths. Eventually we always fulfilled together our goal and on many occasions I know that apart from that I was key to make some of them start liking maths. Mathematics is my passion and I always try to transmit it along with all the interesting things which surrounded this beautiful science. Proudly, today I can say that some of my “worst” students at the beginning, those who didn’t want to listen anything about math are currently studying university degrees such as engineering and they enjoy math as I do. With all this I just want to say that no one is more or less capable of doing maths, students need something which motivate them, specially with abstract stuff, that is why my method consists of showing real applications, answer why we have to learn this and that, why is important..

Trusted teacher: Whether you are a complete beginner and want to start on your musical journey or looking to refine your playing and take it to the next level, my lessons are designed to meet you where you are and help you grow with confidence. I offer one-to-one violin lessons for all ages and skill levels with a supportive and structured approach. I am highly adaptable to any of your goals and desires, whether it’s to make your first steps in violin playing, develop a general understanding of musical language, prepare for a certain grade exam or just play for fun. My aim is to make learning enjoyable and share the love for music with my students. My lessons are carefully designed to suit everyone. It usually consists of the foundation of the violin technique, a wide range of repertoire, carefully selected for every individual, historical context of the compositions, music theory and aural skills, however, it depends greatly on the goal of each student and can differ in each case. I have been teaching for over three years, both in person and online, with students’ ages ranging from 4 to 48 years old, and enjoyed helping them move towards their dream, whether it is to be able to play a tune from their favourite song, or a classical concerto. The lessons should be fun and joyful - bring excitement, inspiration and encouragement for achievements! In my teaching, that is what I believe in and strive for. Get in touch to book a lesson or ask any questions - I would love to hear from you!

Yan was very patient with my boisterous boys and did a good job of keeping them on task. She instinctively recognised that they had different learning styles and offered valuable feedback on how best to teach them.
