I teach singing, guitar and bass to children and adults of all ages and abilities in Rock, Pop, Jazz, Music Theatre, Classical and Opera. As I have always sung along with my guitar or bass playing, I have the expertise to help those who would like to improve their singing, or singers who would like to learn an instrument as well. Such tuition can be very useful for singer/songwriters or those who are already in a band, and wish to become a singer guitarist or bassist. I have advanced theory knowledge and experience in how to approach and arrange backing vocals.

I teach various styles and specialise in Classical, Operatic and Musical Theatre. I also work with singers who are in need of vocal rehabilitation after injury or other medical reasons. Singing is an amazing skill to have, and it enriches one's life in so many ways. I now have 20 years of performing and teaching experience, and specialise in teaching vocal technique and refining tone quality. I encourage my students to develop healthy singing habits, while combining this with language coaching, interpretation and performance skills. I also work regularly with singers for audition preparation, industry professionals and also in vocal rehabilitation. Learning to sing is the same as any other skill, and everyone is capable of singing well. Singing is unique to each person and I always adapt my lessons accordingly.

Emilie has trained in many different genres within music. Emilie started off her training at Reynolds Performing Arts. Then went onto study vocals and music at The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, where she learnt all about how to use the voice and how to be a safe singer. Along with her training at LIPA focused on performance, music theory and music business. Currently Emilie is a singer/songwriter and producer. Working in studios with producers and DJ's. Emilie has created an immense platform online and has releases that have been very successful. Emilie also performs internationally and around London itself to small intermite crowds and events with crowds of thousands. Emilie has been teaching vocals for 6 years specialising is many different genres. Teaching big groups and vocal 1-1s. Emilie loves to focus on feeling confident and comfortable when singing. Looking at performance and vocal control. Always looking at ways to improve and get to the next step as a vocalist. Emilie teaches beginners all the way up to advanced. Emilie also teaches piano and songwriting. If you are wanting to take exams in singing Emilie also focuses on this. From experience preparing for Trinity, Rock School and ABRSM. Emilie understands that exams aren't for everyone. So if you would rather just develop your vocals in other ways such as through vocals and songs, Emilie can put together working goals for this and a separate syllabus without the taking the exam part. My teaching approach is inspired by Paul Harris’ “Simultaneous Learning” and Phyllis Young’s “Playing the String Game”. I combine games and natural instinct to help my students understand playing the cello without overly-complicated instructions. With 4 years of experience, I’m confident in taking on both young and adult students, from beginners all the way to diploma level, guiding their journey throughout. Learning the cello should be both fun and rewarding. I tailor my lessons according to each students’ interests, strengths, and weaknesses in order to help them realise to their full potential. Teaching Method & Style: Hi there, In general I tailor / adjust every lesson to suit individual students; their goals, targets, interests, hobbies, what they do in their daily lives and / or as a family, and in general how the pupil is in character. As well as age, younger ages will require a different approach than with older children, young adults, or adults. I try to incorporate everything relevant to pupils that could be applied in lessons to provide effective teaching, helping pupils to progress/ reach their full potential. And so there is a genuine growing joy for the student, in playing violin, practicing, being taught, and attending the weekly lessons. Adapting to each student is fundamental for their music development, health and wellbeing, self confidence and self independence in music. I prepare all my students for ABRSM / TRINITY graded exams (1-8). This consists of; Pieces, Scales, Aural Training/ Ear training and Sight-Reading. Or the alternative SUZUKI method if the pupil has already previously started it, or desire this approach. I teach music theory in the lesson that goes in part with practical, usually the last part of the lesson or when the students are tired/lack concentration. All methods/resources are used; the piano, manuscript paper, physical activities to help understanding and the ABRSM Theory app on my IPad. Whilst there is focus on grades, I tap into the interests /goals / aspirations of pupils. I regularly have students who want to learn a piece for a competition, religious pieces for church services, or just a desire to learn a piece in any genre/ style. After each lesson, I send parents/students the lesson review/ analysis & homework which they can view in detail. And I am in weekly online contact with parents/ students for any assistance. Online "check-ups" of students via video are conducted to see how weekly progress is going. I am ( what my students tell me I hope!), funny, fun, patient ,very friendly, easy going, understanding, open, and yet have the balance in being demanding, having very high expectations for every student. I try to make the students feel as comfortable as possible, to be themselves in the lesson. The majority of my lessons are taught in my music teaching studio, but I am willing to travel an appropriate distance if that is suitable for the student/parent. I have an enhanced DBS check.

I am here to guide you through a crash course of whatever programme you want to get into, whether you're interested in the actual ABRSM qualification or just want to take up piano / singing / theory / songwriting as a hobby. I tend to make my lessons appropriate to every student on a personal study level. I consider that every age, personality and practice level processes information differently, especially in a creative field. Although sticking to a tested curriculum, my teaching pace can be extended or reduced depending on the student's time and dedication. Being a recent graduate myself, I apply a student-centred approach to my teaching style, prioritising the primary goal standing behind the student's musicianship. On top of personalising my curriculum, I have previous experience in teaching according to the ABRSM grading system (1-8) and Suzuki, as well as helping students with school exam preparation.
